It's almost that time of year again...

Come spend the long Memorial Day weekend camping in one of Colorado's best mountain towns! Whether you're into hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, SUP, yoga, mountain biking, or just about anything else, this trip is sure to be a blast as usual! The campground is located just a few miles from town at the base of Turtle Rock and has gorgeous views of Mt. Princeton and the Arkansas River. It's also free, never crowded, sits on about a zillion mountain biking trails, and only a few miles from several different climbing routes. My personal itinerary involves hiking three 14ers, paddle boarding on Lake Cottonwood, and checking out some of CKS's annual Paddlefest events, which will also be taking place throughout the weekend. Some of these include the Kayak Rodeo, Super G Slalom, SUP yoga/pilates, boat/SUP demos, live music, etc. And although I'd be thrilled to have company on any and all activities, it's more of an all-inclusive camping trip so everyone is certainly free to plan their own days or group events. Come and go as you please, but depending on the size of the group I think it'd be fun to share at least one organized dinner around the campfire.

I plan on rolling in to camp on Thursday and setting up shop with my pup - he's super friendly and loves other dogs, so bring your furry friends, too! Typical car camping accommodations. There's a City Market in town and I'll supply plenty of firewood.

Friday: Climb Mt. Shavano and Tabeguache Peak from the east slopes (standard route). 11 mi RT, Class 2, 5,600 elev. gain.

Saturday: Rest day. Demo paddle boards and relax out on the lake in the morning. Either climbing or spectating the Kayak Rodeo in the afternoon. Group dinner. Check out the live music in town or just hang by the campfire later on. FYI - s'mores are a must and I make mine out of Reece's peanut butter cups and Hershey's cookies and cream bars... and I share. Just sayin'.

Sunday: Hike Missouri Mtn. 10 mi RT, Class 2, 4,500 ft elev. gain. <-- This is tentative based on people's interest. I still need to bag this peak for my own 14er list and figured it'd be a shorter climb in comparison to the others, but I'd also be down to do a different mountain to prevent any repeats for anyone. Columbia, Harvard, or Massive are all possibilities.

Here's the link for CKS's Paddlefest schedule of events, if you're interested.

Hope to see you all join in on this awesome intro to summer trip!!
