Hey MG Tribe:

The 3rd Annual Mountain Gathering (space is limited - RSVP) is coming up fast and I'm looking forward to doing a little climbing with some folks!

What: Climbing during Mountain Gathering Weekend
When: Saturday August 27th, 2016
Where: Haus Rock - Keystone, CO

We went to Haus Rock a few years ago, and I think it's a great venue for some social cragging. This climbing spot offers routes that range from 5.7 all the way up to 5.14, so there should be something for everyone.

MountainProject Route Information

What Else:
*Don't forget to bring all gear necessary for a day of single pitch sport climbing.

*In addition, make sure you have snacks, water, sunscreen, etc...and of course some apres-climb beverages from Upslope Brewing Co (the official beer sponsor of the Mountain Gathering), or other. There were some exceptional "Dunkaroos" during the Haus Rock trip in 2014!

*I'm happy to bring some extra gear and hang ropes for folks that are just looking to get some top-roped laps in.

Meeting Time: Let's all plan to leave The Bivvi Hostel at 10am.  Once we get the carpool and caravans organized, we should be at the Haus Rock trailhead around 10:45am.

Getting There:
Keystone crags (also known as Montezuma) lie just a couple of miles East of Keystone (the town) on the South flank of Porcupine Peak. The most expedient approach is to drive to Dillon and take 6th avenue East to Keystone. After the last shops in town continue East - as though you were headed to A-Basin. A sharp right turn on to CO 5 will snake you beside the Keystone lodges. Stay on CO 5 for approximately 1.5 miles, and park in a dirt pullout on the left side of the road. Crags will have been visible from the moment you pass the lodges, and the creek will be nearby and on the right. The key is to find the pullout on the left as you head East. If you come to the FR260 fork, then you have gone too far. There will be a short embankment at the pullout and room for six or eight cars. Pick up a trail through the woods, on top of the embankment. This will take you up hill for 10 minutes or less to a short talus field and the trail will continue to the left where you will cross a small rock slide. Continue on the trail for another minute or so, and you will run right into the Rock.

GPS Coordinates: 39.60924, -105.91895

I'm looking forward to another great day on the rocks, and another memorable Mountain Gathering Weekend in Breckenridge!

Get Outside, Be Awesome,
Jason
