"You'll be tired as a dog." - Steve Gutenberg quoting Mark Marzen
**THIS IS NOT A RACE. IT IS A RUN OF AS MANY OR FEW MILES AS YOU'D LIKE. EACH RUNNER WILL NEED TO BE PREPARED AND SELF SUFFICIENT**
We will start at Evergreen Lake at 7am where we will have an "aid station" and be finished running about 3pm, or whenever you'd like to be done. We ask that you please bring something (snacks/drinks) to share at the aid station.
From the lake, the first loop will be Alderfer Park/Elephant Butte/Evergreen Mountain and back to the lake to refuel, and relax. The second out and back/loop will head north along a concrete trail to Elk Meadow where you will do a loop up and around Bergen Peak and once again head back to the lake. All in all, the entire route is about 33 miles with 6600 ft of elevation gain. Here is a link to the route on Strava: https://www.strava.com/routes/3225261
You do not have to run the entire thing! Come for one of the loops, an out and back, or just come sit at the aid station, grill, drink beer, paddleboard, and sit in the Denison's hot tub for the evening. This is about community and getting out there so just show up!
Most of the group will be running casually taking many stops, especially at the tops of Elephant Butte, Evergreen Mountain, and Bergen Peak where you will have the opportunity to soak in some great views. With stops, I'd expect each loop to take no longer than 4 hours, which means the bulk of the group will be back at the lake from the first loop at 11am if you'd like to join for the trek up to Bergen Peak.
Hope to see you there!
