I'm just throwing this idea out there to see if anyone is interested...
I'm curious whether any of my fellow adventurers here on Gociety are also folks who love reading stories of others' adventures? If so, would anyone be interested in starting a book club of sorts?
We could read an adventure/travel/exploration oriented book once every month or two, then meet up over beers or food or something to chat about it. Thoughts? Let me know if this is something you might want to do!
UPDATE: Our inaugural meeting at Jagged Mountain was a success! We decided that we will have two books going each month, so that way if people have already read one book, they have the option to read a (hopefully) new book instead.
Our books for this month are Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer and A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. We will meet on Tuesday, June 30 at 7:00 p.m. at BookBar (4280 Tennyson St, Denver, CO 80212) to hang out, have a couple drinks, and chat.
Also, if you do not own copies of these books and can't find them at the library, I suggest using thriftbooks.com. This is pretty much my favorite website ever (aside from Gociety, of course!); they have fantastic deals on books (usually used but still in decent condition), plus orders of $10 or more ship for free.
Happy reading! Let me know if you have any questions.
